Home — The Estate
About the estate
A heritage estate in the heart of coffee country
Fourteen acres of shade-grown Arabica, a century-old planter's home and four private cottages above the Belur valley.
Our story
Where the mist settles and the day slows down
Edgestay began as a family coffee plantation on the Belur–Chikmagalur road. What was once a working planter's bungalow is now a small, deliberately quiet retreat — four cottages, one kitchen, and fourteen acres of Arabica under native shade trees.
Guests wake to birdsong instead of alarms, walk the estate before breakfast, and eat Malnad food cooked by the family that grows most of it. There is no reception desk theatre here; you are hosted, not processed.
What we stand for
Four ideas that shape every stay
Heritage first
A working plantation home restored with its original stone, teak and tile intact — nothing themed, everything lived-in.
Slow hospitality
No queues, no buffets, no scripts. Meals are cooked to your table and the estate is yours to wander.
Rooted in Malnad
Produce, coffee, spices and recipes all come from within a few kilometres of the verandah.
Kind to the land
Shade-grown coffee, rainwater harvesting, minimal plastic and quiet, low-density occupancy.
